Kenyans have in the past few years lost talented actors, actresses, and media personalities to the grave.

Despite their untimely deaths, the thespians in this list will be missed for the joy they brought to Kenyans with their onscreen talents.

Maina Olwenya

Fallen actor, Maina Olwenya's family released a statement detailing moments that led to the famous creative's last moments.

The family reveal that a postmortem on Olwenya's body showed that he succumbed to Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy on July, 2022.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or better known as (HCM) is a condition in which the heart muscle becomes thickened. The thickened heart muscle can make it harder for the heart to pump blood. 

Papa Shirandula

Charles Bukeko known to many as Papa Shirandula passed away in 2020 due to covid-19 related complications.

He died aged 58. He left behind a widow and 3 kids.

Othuol Othuol

Othoul passed away in 2020.

He had been in and out of hospital after he got tuberculosis, which later left him with a brain infection.

In the events leading to his death, he had been hospitalized and his situation was so bad that he couldn't speak properly as his tongue was swollen.

Othuol was best known for his role in 'Aunty Boss.'

Gerald Mwangi Ngima

The 29-year-old actor and photographer committed suicide in 2018 after posting a suicide note on his social media account.

Many who commented on his post thought he was joking, but it is now clear that the late Gerald was suffering from depression before he decided to take his own life.

Mwangi who hailed from Ngano village in Ol Jooro Orok, Nyandarua, made a post on his Facebook account at 8:43 pm informing his friends that he was about to end his life.

 “I think my time in this world is over. I have been through enough but I am done. For those who know me well msikose kukam kunizika iwapo mwili wangu utapatikana.

Niliwapenda nyote lakini Mungu akanipenda zaidi. (For those who know me well, don’t fail to attend my burial if my body will ever be found. I love you all but God loved me more) R.I.P. GERALD MWANGI NGIMA," he wrote.

Jamal Nassul Gadafi

Jamal is famously remembered for his captivating roles on Vioja Mahakamani and the TV show  Junior. Jamal died in December 2018 after succumbing to stab injuries.

Kenyans got to learn about his death through one of his acting mates, Meggielle, who wrote on social media, saying;

“My heart is so heavy I could barely believe it when I got the news of your passing on. You were such a jovial man. And moments with you at work creating a show together are everlasting Ulikuwa mtu wa watu."

Maureen Wanza

Wanza died while giving birth to her child, with the baby also dying. Maureen was popularly known as Sasha from the hit local show Sumu.

Jastorina

Nancy Nyambura Kanyanya aka Jastorina died in 2014 after battling Meningitis.

She died just hours after being awarded the Best Lead Actress in TV drama at the Kalasha Awards.

Her award was received by someone else on her behalf. She left behind two kids.

Jastorina's mum also died of shock just hours after the actress passed away. She couldn't stand the fact that her daughter had died.

Kone Nouhoum

Actor Kone Nouhoum, who played ‘Reagan’ in Maisha Magic hit show ‘Selina’,  died after four months in the ICU.

Kone was involved in a horrific accident at Olkaria geothermal spa in Nakuru County on 29 September 2018.

He passed away at the Nairobi Hospital's Intensive Care Unit. He had sustained multiple spinal fractures during the accident and had been in and out of surgery since then.

Wanade

Television actress Beth Nyambura Mbaya, popularly known by her screen name Wanade died of cancer in 2013.

Nyambura was was the mother of Kamau Mbaya, who played Baha in the show Machachari, and Mungai Mbaya.

Mrs. Mbaya who acted in Mother in law died at her sister’s home in Nairobi’s Kahawa Sukari after a long struggle with cancer.

Maende Shikuku

Maende Shikuku, who was well known for her role in the popular NTV series, Pray and Prey, died after a short illness.

According to reports, Maende is said to have fallen ill on a Friday before she was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed.
