Rapper Daud Moustapha aka Colonel Mustafa has been trending online for the past few days aftyer his video working at a construction site went viral.

The Monalisa hitmaker told Mpasho that he opted for construction works to be able to put food on the table and take care of his ailing man.

Following the virality of his video, Kenyans from all walks of life have been fundraising for him and his family.

So far, more than a million shillings have been channeled his way, so that he can pay medical bills for his mother who is battling cancer.

Mustafa  was born in Dar es Salaam, to a Kenyan dad, Mr Germa Moustapha, and a Tanzanian mum, Fatma.

He studied there a bit then transferred to Kenya, where he finished his education.

His music career kicked off after being discovered by Lucas of Ogopa DJs during Jam sessions back in 2003. He was in a crew called Dessert Vultures.

He later formed Deux Vultures with Nasty Thomas after releasing ‘Monalisa’.
