Former Machakos first lady Lilian Ng'ang'a unveiled a mini-memoir titled 'Madam First Lady' that talks about her life.

Speaking to Mpasho's writer Elizabeth Ngigi, Lilian said she wrote the book to tell her story.

"Sometimes, people may want to put you in a box and disregard what you did, and so I needed to tell my story my way," she said.

"Now that I also have a child, I want them to see that their mother did this and that. Sometimes, when you keep quiet, the false narratives are the ones that end up being the truth, and it is not acceptable to me anymore."

Lilian said in her book, she has talked about projects she did when she was a first lady in the Machakos county government.

"I felt like what I did was not documented, and so this book is for the future so that one day, I will look back and say, when I was the first lady, this is what I did."

Lilian, who was then dating Alfred Mutua, now a Cabinet Secretary, said she enjoyed everything she did since it was from the bottom of her heart.

"People's lives were changed and mine was changed as well. Just have a different side of Lilian."

She talked about cancer awareness and the county getting the first cancer center through her hard work.

"It was the epitome of the work I did. I also did HIV-Aids awareness, youth mentorship, and awareness of building a center for cases of gender-based violence," she said.

Currently, the mother of one said she is enjoying motherhood as she runs her travel company.

"I do ticketing and I am also looking for opportunities for project management in the diaspora market," she said.

The mother of one recently shared a photo of herself on top of an ongoing construction site.

"I enjoy construction and that is where I am coming in. People who want to do a home when they are away, then I can manage for them professionally," she said.

She said her first project will open many other opportunities.
