On Thursday, August 25, 2022 renowned radio personality Massawe Japanni and legendary TV and radio host Jimmi Gathu were tasked to host the inauguration ceremony of Nairobi governor-elect Johnson Sakaja.

An excited Massawe used her social media pages to share a photo captured during the swearing in and Kenyans could not keep calm.

“MCs who spiced up Governor Sakaja’s inauguration! What an honor! @jsakajaWith the legend @jimmigathu,” Massawe captioned a photo posing with Gathu.

The picture in question that captures Massawe’s assignment of the day, ignited positive vibrations from a section of her 780K followers.

Many congratulated the radio host for a job well done at the swearing-in Ceremony that was graced by President-elect William Ruto, Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) Director- General Major Gen. Mohamed Badi and outgoing governor Anne Kananu. 

Speaking at the ceremony, Ruto said his government will ensure that no delays will be witnessed to allow seamless work across all counties.

“I want to commit to all our governors that the government of Kenya going forward will make it possible that the shareable revenue will be released on time in accordance with the law so that we make it possible for you to deliver on your mandate and the commitment you have made,” Ruto said.

Sakaja and his deputy Njoroge Muchiri took oath of office committing themselves to serve Nairobians for the next five years.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Kenyan rapper Nyashinki and music producer Cedo featured on the list of artists who had been scheduled to perform.

The award-winning rapper who is a close friend to Sakaja, delivered a fire performance that left those at the occasion entertained.

After his performance, he wished Governor-elect Sakaja the best.

"Congratulations to my friend governor-elect Johnson Sakaja. It is my honor to perform at this event today and as Nairobi people, we put our trust in you. We know you will do your best," Nyashinski said. 

Governor Sakaja was also a rapper while in college.
