Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz says singer Aslay is not doing well in the music industry despite being talented.

Speaking during the album launch of singer Barnaba Classic, Diamond said if Aslay was signed by Wasafi, he would be a big brand by now.

"Everyone knows Aslay. He is very talented but he is not doing so well. If he was in my hands, he would be a big brand," Diamond said.

Diamond was explaining that he would want the music regulation board Basata to set up laws that protect music investors.

"Aslay would have gone far. Or if he got a good record label to invest in him, he would go far."

Last year, there were rumors that Harmonize wanted to sign Aslay.

Diamond said, "People are talented. Singer TID is among the talented artists in East Africa and if someone invested TSh1 million in him, he would be big," Diamond said.

The Wasafi boss added that music investors are afraid to invest in Tanzanian artists since they see what is happening to Wasafi.

"Every day we are being trolled because of how we have set our contracts."

Diamond said the main challenge most music investors face is a lack of support from the government.

He then asked artists to be patient wherever they are signed.

"When you are signed under a record label, you don't just become an artiste, you become business," he said.

"The problem with our signees, when they get that money, they look for ways to get that money alone.

"They start coming to the government and hiding there. They start saying they are being mistreated and the government protects them, and some investors are afraid to face the government.

"We want to have laws that protect both artists and investors."

Diamond was responding to allegations that Wasafi record label has been exploiting its signees with their contracts.

This was a big discussion recently after Rayvanny quit the record label.

Diamond also talked about how much Zuchu would pay for her to leave Wasafi.

"For her, nothing less than TSh10 billion. You guys can see the huge numbers she is racking on the YouTube streets."

Diamond is yet to unveil new members in Wasafi after Rayvanny and Harmonize quit.
