Lizzie Muthoni Wanyoike, who is the founder of NIBS Technical College has passed away.

The death announcement was made public by her family. Ms Wanyoike passed away at the age of 73.

Liz Wanyoike sadly passed on after battling cancer aged 73 years on 14th January 2024.

Ms. Wanyoike has been eulogized by Kenyans from all walks of life.

Media personality Jeff Kuria used his socials to mourn the late Ms Wanyoike.

“Regrettably, we announce the passing of Lizzie Wanyoike, the Founder of NIBS Technical College. Our sincerest condolences reach out to her family and friends as they navigate through this profound loss.

“In 2022, we had the privilege of a sit-down where she generously shared her life story – a narrative encompassing the highs and lows, both in her personal life and illustrious career. NIBS Technical College,” Jeff Kuria shared.

Quick Facts about Lizzie Muthoni Wanyoike

She is a businesswoman, teacher, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. She is the founder and CEO of the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS).

She rose from humble beginnings as a teacher earning Sh961 per month to become a symbol of achievement and a role model for all young girls, women, and society.

Ms. Wanyoike began her career in 1970, working as a teacher and principal at a city college. She was later hired by the government and assigned to State House Girls Nairobi as a teacher in 1972.

At the time, she earned a monthly salary of Ksh961.

Ms Wanyoike established NIBS in 1999 with Sh6 million and Sh4 million loans from Equity Bank Kenya.

She rented a facility and opened the institution with 25 students and two teachers.

Marriage

Lizzie and her husband were married for 25 years before parting ways. He was sixteen years older than her.
