Over the weekend, Kenyan musician Sofiya Nzau's song 'Mwaki' trended after a remix produced by international DJ,  Zerb went viral.

"Mwaki" is a Kikuyu song that talks about a woman's fear of her father when he finds out she is married to a man who isn't up to the standards the father wanted.

The song originally belonged to Sofiya Nzau but Zerb decided to add some beats to it and created a remix of the song adding more flavour as compared to the original song.

The remixed song has become a TikTok sensation uniting all Kikuyus and international fans over the outstanding song.

Zerb is a Brazilian DJ and producer known for his amazing musical beats and outstanding musical remixes of other people's songs.

What made the song trend in a negative manner was the fact that Zerb took all the credit for the song and completely refused to acknowledge the original author of the song.

After numerous criticisms from the public, he decided to tag her in one of his TikTok posts indicating that she was the original owner of the song but that he had just done a remix of the song. Despite pressure from Sofiya's fans he still hasn't tagged her on YouTube and Spotify.

Some of Zerb's fans don't think she deserves credit since her version was 'boring' but he modified it so it's his original content while Nzau's fans feel the musician needs to be given her flowers.

Sofiya Nzau is a Kenyan performing artist and vocalist who had an ambition to be a musician since she was a child.

The musician is a mother, a wife, and a Kikuyu musician. She has sung other hit songs like "Kyeta"  but 'Mwaki' is the song that brought her beautiful sound to the world.
