Antoine Christophe Agbepa Mumba, formally known as Koffi Olamide is a Congolese soukous singer, dancer, producer, lyricist, composer, bandleader, and the founder of Quartier Latin International.

He was born in 1956, July 13 Kisangani Belgian DRC, and grew up in Kinshasa's Lemba commune until his family relocated to Lingwala in 1973.

What you might not know is that in his youth his life wasn't rotating around the music he actually wanted to become a professional footballer but later spun to music after he was inspired by the old-school Congolese rumba.

The award-winning musician started playing a six-string guitar under the mentor Papa Wemba.

He is known for his fantastic waist skills and his stage presence; he gained his prominence in the year 1977 after his release 'Princesse ya Synza' which he featured Papa Wemba and King Kester Emeneyawhich earned him as the best Singer-Songwriter in Zaire.

This song gained him a little bit of popularity that later in 1986 he directed and established the  Quartier Latin International in which he started to produce his albums later in 1992.

He featured so many known artists like Fally Ipupa,  Jipson Butukondolo, Deo Brondo, and many others. He has shown his amazing skills in Lyrics and prooved it as a module of communication as the example shows below.

There was a rumor in 1987 that he had contracted AIDS while he was in Europe which really affected his career ( in those times it was a serious issue) and drove him to respond in the form of a song, 'Ngulupa' that stated slightly 'you have not seen anything, only heard don't talk things you don't know; verbal diarrhea is a bad thing.'

He has been in the music industry for over decades with about 40 years of experience and is the first-ever African to be featured in   Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy and one of the 12 African musicians listed in the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die for his album Haut de 'Gamme.'

On April 16, 2005, he performed at the Royal Festival Hall in London. On December 4, 2005, he won the 10th edition of the KORA Awards, receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award in South Africa which came with $ 100, 000 dollars cash prize.

Koffi Olomide is among the greatest Congolese and African musical artists of all time. Many artists look up to him for inspiration. President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) recently appointed him as one of the country's cultural ambassadors.

Koffi has finally been invited by Radio Africa for an unforgettable evening of musical magic of Rhumba night. If you miss this you are going to miss a lot for it will be a once-in-a-lifetime live performance.
