Former Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sinki has shared an update on former boxer Conjestina Achieng who is at the Mombasa Women rehabilitation centre and Kenyans are impressed.

Sonko celebrated the 59th Mashujaa Day with Conjestina after visiting her at the facility with goodies.

“We celebrated mashujaa day in style by joining one of our great shujaas Conjestina Achieng for her 45th birthday. This also gave us a chance to share happy moments of the day with lunch, soft drinks , cake cutting, dance and fun with everyone at the Mombasa Women rehabilitation centre. Happy birthday Heroine Conjestina and happy Mashujaa to us all, who strive to be heroes/heroines in our little different ways each single day,” Sonko shared.

Conje has been tormented by mental illness and money issues since 2011 despite having a brilliant career that made her the darling of many Kenyans.

After running away from Kisumu's rehab facility, she attacked her younger brother in Siaya in 2016 and severely injured him with a sharp instrument.

On June 28, Kenyans from all walks were finding it hard to swallow the bitter truth the former boxer was living in abject poverty, despite being one of the best boxers Kenya ever had.

Heartbreaking photos of the former award-winning boxer surfaced online, touching the raw nerves of Kenyans.

Following the virality of the photos, Sonko promised to help Conjestina again.
