The Rwandese entertainment industry is mourning the sudden demise of renowned singer and songwriter Yvan Buravan.

A statement issued by Buravan’s management divulged that the singer succumbed to pancreatic cancer while receiving treatment in India.

It is with unimaginable sadness that we announce to you the untimely passing of our beloved Yvan Buravan, which occurred tonight in India, where he was undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer. 

The statement further eulogized the Big Time hitmaker as a genuine soul and someone who motivated everyone around him to love his country and culture. 

Yvan Buravan was a genuine soul that radiated happiness to everyone around him. He motivated all of us to love our country and our culture.

The untimely death of the award-winning star has been described as one of the most difficult moments by his team - appealing to the music industry to remain united as they mourn the act. 

His loss will be immensely felt by his family and friends and throughout our industry.  We are certain that our community will remain united as we go through this unspeakable tragedy. May he rest in peace.

Following the announcement, celebrities across the East African community joined the conversation, mourning the singer with their heartfelt condolence messages. 

Some of the Kenyan celebrities who have mourned the Rwandese superstar are King Kaka, Sauti Sol’s Polycarp Otieno, Anyiko Owoko, Berry Owano, and Bensoul.

On August 4th, Buravan through his management put out a statement, informing his fans that he had been hospitalized in India.

At that particular time, he disclosed that the government of Rwanda was taking care of his medical bill.

Yvan Buravan would like to let his friends and fans know that he is abroad for medical treatment.

He thanks the family and the government of Rwanda for the assistance with his medical care and for all those keeping him in their prayers and wishing him a quick recovery.

However, on August 17, he lost the battle with cancer.
