Ex-Maria actress, Vanessa Hausa, has opened up about how she landed a role on the show.

Speaking during an interview with Nicholas Kioko, she says she got the chance by chance after changing her original route due to traffic.

"I got into Maria by chance. I had gone to pick up my wig and check out the cake. At the time I was living on Kiambu road but the Museum Hill had traffic so I decided to change the route.

On getting to  Shirika House, I found very many people so I asked them what was happening."

What Wanjiku did not know is that her life was about to change.

"I did not know what show I was auditioning for nor where it would air. I decided to just audition as I had nothing to lose. I decide to pick up my wig later or ask them to alert me once it was ready.

I got there at around 9. I auditioned at around 2 pm, I was almost giving up.

When I saw Rashid auditioning, I got butterflies as I did not feel like I could do it. I called my mum and she advised me to just go through with it."

Wanjiku says seeing Rashid made her develop cold feet but she decided to go through with the auditions.'

Luckily for her, she got the part.

"They did not give me a script, they gave me a scenario and told me to act how I would react. After leaving the auditions I was around UON when I got a call and they gave me a chance to act."
