'Maria' actor William Hausa has said he was shocked and disappointed when the popular Maria TV show ended.

The show whose lead actress was Yasmeen Saiedi started in late 2019 and ended in 2021.

Speaking during an interview with Hiram Maina, the father of three says, "The announcement that the show was ending was shocking, surprising and disappointing.

My character had changed and I was in jail and I thought I would leave jail because even the constitution allows murderers to be released on bond.

The show ending was a surprise because in my opinion the show was at its climax and it could only go in one direction, up.

But the scriptwriter and the production team had decided the show will reach there. As an employee, it means your job has come to an end."

On whether acting pays, Hausa says, "Yes and no, it depends on who you are working for. I have no complaints with Jiffy pictures and Citizen.

I have in the past worked with companies that I was paid peanuts. That is why I advise people to invest."
