Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala and his family are in mourning following the untimely demise of his elder brother Sheikh Salim Mohamed Abdallah Balala.
A heartbroken Balala relayed the sad news via his social media pages, with a revelation that the late Sheikh Salim was a father to four sons and three daughters.
“It is with great sadness to announce the death of my eldest brother, Sheikh Salim Mohamed Abdallah Balala. The late Sheikh Salim is father to Salaah Balala, Abdallah Balala, Taufiq Balala, Mohammed Balala, and 3 daughters,” Balala said in part.
Salim Mohamed was an assistant minister in the ministry of finance and economic planning from 1966 to 1974.
“He is also brother to Hussein Balala (deceased), Talal Balala, Jalal Balala, Abdulnasser Balala, myself, and our 3 sisters.
“The late Sheikh Salim was a nominated Member of Parliament and also served as an Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning from 1966 to 1974 under late President H.E Jomo Kenyatta,” the CS informed.
He will be laid to rest on September 1st 2022 at exactly 10:00 as per the Muslim customs.
“Funeral prayers will be held at Shibu Mosque - Mwembe Tayari Mombasa @ 10 am 1st September 2022 and burial at Kikowani Muslim cemetery thereafter," Najib Eulogized.
Balala went on to make a short prayer for his departed brother; "May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus. “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un ( Indeed, to God we belong and to God we shall return),”.
