DCI summons taxi driver who took Itumbi to hospital

Dennis Itumbi dominated the news headlines last week after he alleged that he had been kidnapped in a horrific ordeal.

According to Deputy President William Ruto's Digital Media Strategist and his allies, Itumbi was abducted by unknown people after stepping out of a barbershop in Thindigua.

A taxi driver called Boniface Makokha took him to Ruaraka Uhai Hospital after him alive a few hours later, before he was transferred to Nairobi West Hospital.

It is now being reported that the taxi driver who took him to the hospital after his alleged ordeal was summoned by the Kiambu Directorate of Criminal Investigations yesterday.

The taxi driver revealed this information when he spoke to journalists yesterday.

“They asked if Itumbi had mentioned about the abductors, but when I found him, I just rushed him to the hospital because he was in bad shape. I left after his brother David arrived. During that time, he only uttered a few words because he seemed in pain."

Mr. Itumbi alleged kidnapping has led legislators like Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen to claim that they would ask the United Nations to launch investigations into the matter.

"We have also agreed that we are going to write to the special rapporteur of the United Nations on torture on the situations that are being witnessed in this country," Murkomen said.
