Macharia hasn't always been a wealthy man. He is one of those men who rose from grass to grace.
Mr. Macharia has in the past opened up on how hard it was for him when he was coming up, explaining that he first travelled to the US by bus with only KSh 1200 pocket money.
"I went to the US by bus. It took me nine months, with KSh 1,200, and left my father and three sisters without a piece of land in the village," he remembered.
The 78-year-old added that he once worked as a sweeper at Boeing.
Happy birthday, Macharia.
