Radio King, Maina Kageni, has revealed what criteria he uses to play music during his Morning Show on Classic 105.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with Mpasho.co.ke, the witty radio host also shared what he is currently listening to. Maina runs a morning show alongside Mwalimu King'ang'i.

"I play 32 songs in one morning. Your song has to be great before I play it. If a song is bad I tell it to your face. We are a station that plays melodious music people can remember.

There is a music committee, Every song is tested in the public. If it's tested and it scores well, it gets played, Your song has to be banging. No one will play your song just because you are Kenyan."

Adding,

"If music is tested and approved by the people then we will play it. There are songs Diamond and Harmonize have done that I have never played. Do you know I played 'Never Give up' once and told Harmonize its rubbish?' He posed.

"Kenyan music is great.

I hear a lot of Nadia, Sauti Sol, Khaligraph, among other artists.

But I cannot just play your music just because you are Kenyan. If your song is bad I tell it to your face."
