Kenyans are mourning the death of the popular Kikuyu song 'Firirinda'.
The news of the death of Dick Munyonyi was announced by Kikuyu musician Karangu Muraya on his facebook page.
The philanthropist musician in a brief caption wrote, "My friend has rested."
He continued that he passed away while waiting to seek treatment elsewhere after discharge from the Gatundu Level 5 hospital.
He shared a message from the family that Dick required to be transferred from Gatundu Level 5 to a medical facility with ICU and that the biggest challenge the family was facing was raising money for him to be admitted.
"The problem is that the hospital requires a deposit to admit him. But for now, we don't have any money. Please help us, my brother," pleaded a text message to Muraya.
Muraya then later updated that Dick had passed on writing,
"This life is too short, whenever you get an opportunity to do good, you just do good, you don't know about the next minute.....we did our part, but God's will prevailed.... Rest in peace my friend, my neighbour Dik Munyonyi Many thanks to Gatundu hospital and KU referral hospital...."
"Sad Rest in peace Dik Munyonyi...."
