Couples across the globe typically recognize the annual celebration by exchanging gifts, flowers, and cards, although it's not recognized as a public holiday in any part of the world.

St Valentine

The feast of St Valentine of February 14 was first established in 496 by Pope Gelasius I, who included Valentine among all those "whose names are justly reverenced among men, but whose acts are known only to God."

Valentine’s Day is meant to honour one or two early saints named Valentinus. It’s also recognized as a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and romantic love around the world.
