Rotimi explains why chose to date a woman from Africa

American-based Nigerian actor Rotimi has explained why he is in a relationship with an African woman.

Rotimi is engaged to Tanzanian singer Vanessa Mdee with whom they have a son. Speaking in an interview with 'The Pivot Podcast', Rotimi described African women as submissive.

"When you have an African woman, you get a woman who is cautious about our understanding of 'how to treat a man and how to be submissive,'" he said.

Rotimi added that besides Vanessa being beautiful, she also knows how and when to be tough.

"It's just a balance that is hard to find and I don't say you don't get that in American women but a lot of African women are made to be queens in their minds and also to be a great wives."

Yesterday, the couple celebrated their son's Seven first birthday. Vanessa showered her son with praise as she thanked God for blessing her with a son.

"My baby you’re a divine gift and I am honored to be your Mama. Thank you for being our biggest blessing," she wrote.

Before meeting Vanessa, Rotimi dater Kim Oprah. After making his relationship with Vanessa public, Kim Oprah advised Vanessa not to get too comfortable in a viral TikTok video.

"Don’t get too comfortable sweetheart, I was his everything once too," Kim said.

Years ago, another ex-girlfriend of Rotimi gave hints that he was abusive. Christina Rogers talked about one of his exes who was physically abusive, and all fingers pointed at Rotimi.

Vanessa came out to shut down the rumours of Rotimi being abusive saying,

"My social media team has alerted me to various comments made by people saying that Rotimi physically abuses me or is someone who is abusive to women. Number one, that is so far from the truth. It is not true and secondly, it is something that can mess up someone's reputation especially when it is not true."
