Celebrated actress, Celestine Gachuhi has shared about the challenges she has experienced so far as a mum.

The budding YouTuber and her lover, Phil Kimemia welcomed a bouncing baby girl more than two weeks ago.

The award-winning actress through her YouTube channel painted the motherhood picture describing it as a learning process.

“I stayed in the hospital for a few days after the baby came. I didn’t know that a baby is supposed to be given jabs. I couldn’t understand why, I felt like my heart would pop out,” Celestine said.

Celestine says that she has been paranoid over everything revolving around their baby and as a result they have been sleeping with the lights on.

"At the hospital, I woke up and there were no lights the baby was crying and I was so shocked. I would sweat every time the baby cried.”

Being a first time parent, she would at times overreact over the smallest of things and she narrated how one time she handed the baby to her sister in law because she thought something had choked her.

“I was like what happens now that we are home? That night I couldn’t sleep properly. At the hospital, I wasn’t producing any milk, so I had to take supplements.  When I got home my baby wasn’t breastfeeding. I used to sleep like an unsettled person.  I would wake up very shocked once the baby cried or if she made some noise, nilikuwa naruka karibu nianguke.”

One of her biggest challenges was washing the baby and the actress says her tiny size made everything difficult especially given that her sister in law used to washing the baby for the first four days.

“I decided to sponge bath the baby until the cord falls off. I handled her with a lot of caution because I didn't want to pull out the umbilical cord.  I was very excited when the baby’s umbilical cord fell.”

Celestine says a lot has changed now and she calmer whenever the baby cries compared to the first few days.
