ODM leader Raila Odinga supported the campaigns of Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwour alias Jalang'o with a donation of Sh5 million, according to Phelix Odiwour.

Jalang'o claimed that Raila provided him with the cash for his political endeavours. Without Raila's assistance, he claimed, his campaigns would have been very challenging.

"I know the big role that Baba played in me being a member of parliament. He supported me, he supported me not only by endorsing me but also financially," he said.

"We are among the few people that Baba told to plan an event and he would grace it to support us in our election. He gave me personally Sh5 million."

He revealed this during an interview with TV47 on Friday. The campaign, according to Jalang'o, was difficult. He claimed that defeating the then-Lang'ata MP Nickson Korir was tough.

The MP stated that he still has a warm relationship with Raila and that the Azimio Chief views him as a son.

"Baba knows very well, wherever he is right now, he knows that I am his son and Baba loves me so much," he said.

After his expulsion from the ODM party, Jalang'o insisted that he would remain a member of the party till he got direct communication from Raila that he should exit.

"The party belongs to Raila Amollo Odinga and if I have not received communication from him. I am an ODM member, the Lang'ata MP until 2027. Take this to the bank because it is the truth. No changes have been made."

He was expelled alongside our other rebel MPs by the ODM party's National Executive Council.

The included Elisha Ochieng’ Odhiambo (Gem), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), and Tom Ojienda (Senator of Kisumu County).

They were expelled in a NEC convened by Raila.
