President-elect William Ruto has this morning said that he held a phone conversation with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Addressing the nation, Ruto, whose presidential win in the last general elections was on Monday validated by the Supreme Court revealed that he hadn't spoken to Uhuru for months.

Ruto made his intentions of calling President Kenyatta known while speaking  at his Karen home.

"I will shortly be putting a call to my good friend President Uhuru Kenyatta. We haven't spoken in months. I will call him shortly so that we can have a conversation on the process of transition. I know he worked hard in his way but the people of Kenya have made their decisions," Ruto said in part.

Adding;

"When I decided to support Uhuru Kenyatta I did not give him any conditions. I take no offense that he chose to support someone else. We will continue being friends; we look to take Kenya to the next level."

Well, in a recent post on all his social media platforms, the President-elect confirmed that he has since talked with Uhuru on transition matters.

"I had a telephone conversation with my boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta. We discussed the just concluded General Election and the transition as envisaged by our democratic tradition and practice," Ruto shared.

President Uhuru Kenyatta also issued a brief speech following the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the 2022 election results on Monday.

In his brief, he did not mention President-elect William Ruto by name or even congratulate him.

"I want to wish well all who have won as they guide our country into the future. I thank you all for the opportunity to serve," Uhuru said.

He also promised that he will oversee a smooth transition to the next administration.

President-elect William Ruto and his Deputy President-elect Rigathi Gachagua will be sworn in at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Tuesday the 13th of September, 2022.
