The phrase 'Sipangwingwi' has become common among Nairobians and Kenyans who listen to Gengetone hits.

The slang was derived from 'Sipangwingwi' song by Exray Taniua featuring Trio Mio and Ssaru.

In a meeting at his Karen residence on Monday, Deputy President William Ruto proved that he is up to date with the latest slang in town.

"Vile wakenya wamesema hawapangwingwi, na mimi nataka niwaambie... mimi pia kama hustler sipangwingwi. Wao wanaweza kupangwa na deep state... system lakini sisi hatupangwingwi," he said.

He used the slang to imply that he can not be controlled by his fellow politicians and state machineries.

Several politicians have been associating themselves with Gengetone music and slangs in a bid to appeal to youthful voters.
