Family confirms the death

• Media mogul and billionaire businessman Chris Kirubi has passed away.

• In his first interview ever talking about his battle with the disease, he said, “My cancer was discovered by mistake."

Media mogul and billionaire businessman Chris Kirubi has passed away.

The news was confirmed by his family. In a statement, they wrote, "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Christopher J. Kirubi (1941-2021) who passed away today, Monday the 14th of June, 2021 at 1 pm at his home after a long battle with cancer fought with fortitude, grace and courage. He was surrounded by his family."

He has battled cancer since 2018 he he got the diagnosis during a routine medical check up.

In his first interview ever talking about his battle with the disease, he said, “My cancer was discovered by mistake." 

Adding,

“It has been a traumatic journey full of challenges. I encourage anyone fighting cancer not to lose hope. Pray but also seek treatment."

Kirubi scaled the heights of success with many investments under his name and shareholder titles in some of the biggest companies in East Africa.

Valued at over £300 million, he holds shares in Two RiversMall through Centum, Haco Industries and Capital Group Ltd that owns Capital FM.

One of his last tweets posted today morning encouraged his followers to be the best they can be this week.

He is famed for his #AskKirubi tweets that offered nuggets of wisdom on motivation and  investment.
