The arrest follows extensive raids conducted by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission on his residence and that of Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali. These raids were carried out at their respective homes in Nairobi and Marsabit.
Yatani previously served as the Governor of Marsabit before assuming the role of Cabinet Secretary under Former President Uhuru Kenyatta. The residences of other high-ranking officials from the county were also subject to raids.
EACC officials confirmed to the Star newspaper that the former Governor is currently in their custody and will be escorted to the Integrity Centre for further proceedings.
