The body of a teenager was Wednesday morning retrieved from a borehole in the Boigesa area in Nyamache, Kisii county.

The deceased had a strand of a mosquito net tied around his neck raising suspicion that he died by suicide.

Villagers said they began looking for him on Wednesday morning after he failed to turn up at home on Tuesday evening.

Nyamache OCPD Kipkulei Kipkemboi identified the teenager as 19-year-old Thomas Ariba.

"There was no note found, we are treating it a suicide incident though investigations are still underway," Kipkulei told the Star by phone.

The body was taken to Nyamache Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
