Student commits suicide in Migori, alleges harassment in suicide note

A 15-year-old girl from Bande girls in Nyatike sub-county, Migori county was reported to have committed suicide on Sunday.

According to East Kadem Chief Winnie Malemba, the incident was reported by the school's deputy principal. 

According to reports, all the students were attending church service within the school premises when the deceased sneaked from the church service.

It is said the deceased committed suicide in her class using a sisal rope.

Police accompanied by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers arrived at the scene to investigate the motives of the incident.

"The deceased mother identified the body as her daughter."

Police further said that they found a suicide note saying that another girl in the school was allegedly harassing the deceased.

The body was taken to Migori level five mortuary awaiting autopsy.
