was captured firing teargas into a media vehicle during Azimio demos.

The IG was speaking during the interview of 12 shortlisted police officers for the position of Deputy Inspector General of Police at Kenya School of Government on Tuesday.

Koome said that all incidents reported are being probed.

"A policeman breaking a window of the car? Regarding all officers, any issue of malpractice or misconduct brought to us is investigated and we take action. I received those complaints and they are being handled," he said.

This was after the video made rounds on social media the officer was seen breaking the window of a media vehicle before lobbing teargas into the car.

After the attack, Azimio leader Raila Odinga posted photos on his social media handles and asked Kenyans to help identify the officer.

Raila condemned the police for using excessive force during their demonstrations. 

He claimed that there was an attempt on his life during mass demonstrations in Embakasi South after his car was allegedly shot seven times. 

"There's no justification for the excessive force used against peaceful unarmed citizens exercising their democratic rights today. The unprovoked attack left my car hit with 7 live bullets, each aimed at me," he said.

Media watchdogs condemned continued attacks on journalists saying it limits their freedom.
