About 22,000 people are expected to attend the National celebrations of Mashujaa Day at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi.
Mashujaa Day, which replaced Kenyatta Day, is a public holiday to honor all Kenyans who contributed to the struggle for Kenya's independence or positively contributed to post-independent Kenya.
The government has always honored post-independence heroes who have contributed to national development in various sectors.
This will be Ruto's first national holiday to preside over as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces since his swearing-in last month.
The President will first inspect a guard of honour mounted by all three formations of the Kenya Defence Forces.
This will be Ruto's second time inspecting a guard of honor since he took office on September 13.
Coming at a time when the country is yet to conclude the transition process, some of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's Cabinet secretaries will attend the celebrations.
Ruto's nominees for the ministerial dockets, who are undergoing parliamentary vetting, will be present at the event to be held at the refurbished Uhuru Gardens.
