Kenyan rapper Nelly the Goon has revealed the song 'Bandana Ya Esir' was written 2 years ago.

In an exclusive interview with Mpasho, the rapper says he is the one who wrote the song but decided to look for Nameless.

"I had always wanted to do a song about Esir, it was part of my bucket list. I just did not know how to go about it.

I had recorded the entire song but I felt I was not ready to release it. I did not want to do it in the usual ways that is why I decided to look for smarter ways.

I looked for a guy called Teleman, after I sent him the song he told me to contact Nameless. I called Nameless and here we are."

He added, "To the people saying the song is not a hit, they are just haters. They cannot teach me how to write music.

The video was shot in two days. The music has been in the cooking for two years."

The song is to pay tribute to the late Esir who would have turned 40 years in 2022.

Esir's life was cut shot in 2003 after he was involved in a road accident along the Nakuru -Naivasha highway.

At the time his career was just rising, many feel that would he have lived he would have changed the Kenyan music scene.
