DJ Lithium was struggling with his mental health and he posted this on his social media. 

The spinmaster who died last evening inside the Capital FM offices lamented about the cost of therapy.

In one of his tweets DJ Lithium - real name Alex Nderu - wrote, "Ksh 6500 for a therapy session is bloody expensive."

Lithium committed suicide by drinking rat poison. Before that, he deleted all his social media and sent out last messages to friends and family.

Lithium who made his tweets private only visible to his 426 followers also sent a goodby tweet that read, "Every journey has to come to an end."

The incident happened at Lonroh House in the CBD but Nairobi Hospital reported to the police minutes later. His colleagues were in a mourning mood Thursday morning.

They cited family issues as part of the reasons he died by suicide.

“He had his family issues that he cited as the motive for the incident. We are shocked,” said one member of the staff.

Cases of suicide have been on the rise in the country amid calls to address it. There were 70 suicide cases in December 2021 as compared to 61 in November the same year.

Mental health has been cited as the main reason for the incidents.
