What killed Mama Evolve? Family speaks

Friends and family of DJ Evolve - real name Felix Orinda - are still coming to terms with the sudden death of Mary Hogo, Mama Evolve.

DJ Shock told Mpasho, "I am so saddened that she passed away, it was so sudden and nobody had time to react, there was no chance to visit her in hospital; before we knew it, God had come for His daughter and taken her home.

She has been such a pillar of strength and inspiration to everyone during this journey, this is a big-hearted lady who loved Evolve so deeply and was so generous in her time to making sure he got the best she could give him."

Mama Evolve collapsed at her workplace in Lucky Summer, after developing breathing difficulties. She was rushed to Mama Lucy hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The autopsy results reveal that Mama Evolve died of swelling and rupture of the heart.

The examination was conducted by the government’s chief pathologist Johansen Oduor, saying that Hongo died of a heart condition called abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA).

An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a bulge or swelling in the aorta, the main blood vessel that runs from the heart down through the chest and tummy.

It can be dangerous if it is not spotted early on, and can get bigger over time and could burst (rupture), causing life-threatening bleeding.

Evolve’s father John Orinda told NTV on Saturday that the family has started burial arrangements.
