Nonini, a pioneer of genge music, has expressed regret for what he claims is his support for the Kenya Kwanza administration.

In a statement posted Monday night on the social networking platform X, Nonini claimed that his resolve stems from the course that the nation is taking, which he finds to be unacceptable.

"Looking back at how our country is going a year down the line with this government. I want to share my apology loudly to Kenyans for supporting this government and some leaders you know I did," he said.

As President William Ruto's administration commemorated a year in power, the Kwanza government in Kenya has faced harsh criticism, with the most recent Infotrak survey indicating that 53% of Kenyans believe the nation is moving in the wrong path.

The high cost of living and unemployment are a couple of the justifications offered by individuals who think the nation is headed in the wrong direction.

In their anti-government protests at the beginning of this year, the opposition listed the high cost of living as one of their justifications.

Eighty-nine percent of the respondents said Kenya is moving in the wrong way because of the high cost of living. The second reason given was unemployment.
