This follows the naming of the Kibera-born star as among Africa's rising stars of 2023. A shot video on MTV Base Africa's Twitter account on May 30 says.
"Today we’re spotlighting two Rising Stars who are making Africa proud on the global stage, and featured in Meta’s Made by Africa campaign.
Let’s give it up for @OCTOPIZZO, the talented recording artist, entrepreneur & humanitarian from 🇰🇪 💫"
In part of his speech, Octpizzo says, "For the first time I feel like I am doing something that I love. I took over Kenya, then Africa, and now people in NYC and Australia all dance to my music. I am Octopizzo and I am made for Africa," he shouts n a short clip.
He takes Meta fans around Kibera where he shows he shares how difficult it was growing up in a place called Katwekera.
"There are the stereotypes when it comes from, it took me so long to be who I am just because of my environment and my geography. Every single music that I ever recorded or ever put out has been inspired by this place in one way or another."
Octopizzo has ever declared himself Kenya's richest rapper.
