Last weekend, a video of the pastor of the KAG Rivers of God church, Tony Kiamah preaching that the pastor of your church should not be your parent was circulated online attracting mixed reactions.
Kiamah criticized many preachers who want their believers to recognize them as 'father' and 'mother' and said that it should not be that way because there is no day your pastor can take the place of your parents until the sun rises in the west.
"This is stupid to call the pastor your father or your mother. The pastor is not your mother, the pastor is not your father.
Do not call me father, I am not your father, I am your pastor," the pastor preached.
He said that some pastors deliberately want to be called father or mother because they know that the word of a parent is not disputed and being called that means they want the word they say not to have any questions from the believers.
The director general of MCSK, Ezekiel Mutua seemed to agree with Kiamah's statement saying that other pastors aim to dumb down the believers in order to benefit from being called father or mother.
According to Mutua, calling a pastor father or mother is disrespecting the parents who gave birth to you.
"Calling the pastor mother or father is actually humiliating the real parents and is a method used by deceivers to distort the authority of the parent.
Your pastor is not your father or mother. They cannot and should never take the authority and role of a parent," Dr Mutua said.
The director said that the time has come for such believers to be eradicated from society because they are misleading generations with such sermons which he described as absurd.
"This heresy must be corrected to remove nonsense from the church and restore stability in society," Mutua reprimanded. Is it good for a person to call his pastor as father or mother?
