How musician Daddy Owen has evolved into one of Kenya's biggest philanthropists

The singer says giving to the needy gives him joy

Owen Mwatia famously known as Daddy Owen has risen to become one of Kenya's most philanthropic celebrities.

A philanthropist refers to someone who seeks to promote the welfare of others, especially by the generous donation of money to good causes.

In 2022, through grant consultancy, partnerships, and personal financing Owen has supported the construction of a Children's home in Eldoret-Jawabu Children's Home, (30m) and a hospital ward in CURE HOSPITAL-KIJABE.(40m)

This year plans are already underway for the construction of a Vocational Training Center in Uasin Gishu.

Owen is also the founder of the Malaika Disability Foundation.

The foundation aims to create awareness and advocacy on factors that are affecting PWDs in Kenya at the same time create opportunities for our posterity. 

The System Ya Kapungala hitmaker also hosts Malaika Disability Walk and Malaika Tribute  Award.

During this award 10 persons with disabilities are awarded for their remarkable work in transforming lives, each winner is awarded Kshs. 100,000.

MDF's bigger picture is to eradicate conditions such as club foot in the next 10 years.

In one year the organization has impacted more than 6000 children indirectly and 1250 directly through surgeries, school fees, uniforms, shelter, and mentorship programs.
