Waihiga Mwaura's exit from Citizen TV

When Citizen TV employees were bidding farewell to news anchor Waihiga Mwaura, his wife Joyce Omondi was backstage, getting ready to surprise him.

He was informing Kenyans that he was serving his last day at the Royal Media Services (RMS) and had no idea his wife was backstage.

He was making his final speech about having worked at Citizen for 14 years and leaving for BBC Africa.

What we did not see was what was going on behind the scenes before she walked on set to hearty claps from his colleagues.

Joyce has shared a cute video with Trevor Ombija as they struggle to keep quiet despite breaking out in giggles. They whisper as he tells people to keep quiet.

Joyce pans her camera to show her husband on the screen reading news, oblivious she is very nearby. "Oh my God"

"Look at my husband y'all," Joyce gushes. This cute moment has her fans telling her that she is proof marriage works.

During Waihiga's final bulletin, Trevor Ombija and other employees in the studio had a cake he cut for his farewell.

They also gave speeches praising him as they said goodbye.

Joyce was the final surprise and bestie Trevor informed Mwaura that there was one more thing.

They all looked in the direction of the backstage where she walked out to their claps.

"Another one special person who also has a special message, we gave you a wife, and we also present her to you," Ombijah said.

Joyce hugged her husband and said;

"I am so proud of you. I am glad I finally get to surprise Waihiga on air. I admire you as a leader, as a person as a human being.

"You are incredibly talented and so hardworking I see the hours you put in, and I just honour you for it. I thank God for opening this door for you, and I just know that your light is gonna continue shining brighter and brighter."

"Listening to the team and all the wonderful things they have to say about who you are I wanna be like you one day when I grow up. I love you, I celebrate you, I will always be behind you cheering you on as your number-one fan,".
