Matata music group is a Norway-based Kenyan Gengetone music group of five members.

They took to their Instagram stories to give guidance to Kenyan artists who claim that they are getting peanuts from MCSK.

The group recommended that Kenyan stars should consider getting an International publisher to collect royalties.

Explaining that;

"Dear fellow Kenyan artists, you'll can keep complaining about MCSK paying you pennies or you can get yourself an International publisher."

They further disclosed that they have made over five million Kenyan shillings in their three years of being in the music game.

The group, which raps in Sheng and a mix of Kikuyu, was started in 2016, but it was not until 2018 that they started producing music and since then they have had massive growth.

This comes weeks after Kenyan artists opened up about the amount they got from the Music Copyright Society of Kenya.

On Instagram, Bien shared a screenshot of the payment made by the MCSK and went on to “brag” how rich he just became as a result of the transaction which is 14,634 Ksh.

 The singer went on to use satire, saying he can't imagine how much money “upcoming artists” like Khaligraph Jones would be getting.

On the other hand, upcoming musician Oga Obinna shared a screenshot showing the Ksh 258 he received from MCSK for his music.

 Sauti Sol also vowed to withdraw their membership from the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) citing displeasure over the payment of royalties.

They also called out other musicians in Kenya who may feel dissatisfied with the services to join their exit from it as they questioned why the Organisation behaves like they are doing Kenyan Musicians a favor.
