Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve can now speak.

This was after he underwent a successful surgery.

Speaking to the Star on Thursday, DJ Evolve said that after a successful surgery last month, he can now speak.

“I never thought this day would come but I have finally regained my voice back. I have truly seen God works,” he said.

Evolve said he underwent surgery on March 6, 2023 but could not be able to speak properly until this week.

This comes just days after Babu Owino was found to have a case to answer in the case of Evolve's shooting.

The lawmaker was charged in 2020 following the shooting of DJ Evolve at a club in Nairobi's upmarket Kilimani area.

He was facing a different charge of attempted murder which was withdrawn after talks with his victim.

But the state pressed misuse of firearm charges against Babu and a magistrate on Tuesday put the MP on his defence.

"After evaluating the prosecution's evidence, the accused has a case to answer," Milimani senior principal magistrate Benard Ochoi ruled.

The court set June 15 for a defence hearing.

Babu whose defense team is led by renowned criminal lawyer Cliff Ombeta has challenged claims the bullet that shot DJ Evolve was discharged from his gun.

After being bedridden, discharged from hospital and starting recovery journey, life hit DJ Evolve further on September 23, 2021 when his mother passed away.

Speaking in a past interview with The Star, Evolve said he had forgiven Owino

What is your relationship with Babu Owino at the moment? The interviewee asked

To which he responded

"Proverbs 17:9 "Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends."

I know we are a country of diverse religious beliefs but I believe love and forgiveness are universal. It's public information that I forgave Babu.

I actually did it before getting to the hospital on the same day as I felt, if I had one last act of kindness to do, what would it be?

And it was a no brainer. We've maintained our friendship as no amount of anger or guilt can undo what is already done."
