Popular actress Wanjiku Mburu, alias Mama Baha has explained why they don't receive any money from Citizen TV's Machachari show.

In an interview with SPM Buzz, she said Royal Media Services (RMS) stopped paying Machachari stars and other people who starred in various popular programs used to air on their station.

According to the mother of one, the contracts they signed 10 years ago, did not allow them an opportunity to continue earning after the program was over.

"Well without beating around the bush, what you heard is true and you know there is something that you sign called a contract. The program is not ours, it's theirs and it is unfortunate that we didn't sign the royalties contract at the time," she said.

"So there is nothing much we can do. We have to accept the outcome because the company can do whatever they want to do with it. It's been like 10 years and things have changed over that period. When given a contract, ask questions about it and also look for finer details in the contract and no one is at fault, it's just it was not our time. That's all."

A few years back, Tahidi High actor OJ called out his former bosses at Citizen TV for using his content and photos, yet he is no longer working for them.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, OJ says it is unfair for TV stations to continue using filmmakers' content, while they do not award them.

OJ says despite the show making a brand name for him, some issues need to be addressed to protect the upcoming ones.

"After I left Tahidi High, someone told me they saw me on TV and I was like, I am no longer there. Only for me to realise they were repeating the show without telling me," he said, adding that they even had some altercation with the bosses.

"They explained to me that the contract we signed said they can do anything with that content. That thing still hurts me to date."

OJ said the reason he has spoken about the issue is that talent being his shamba, he is not happy when people reap from it yet he is not gaining.
