Voluntary celibacy is becoming more popular. 

As a result, more and more people are openly discussing their choice to abstain from sexual relations.

 While the trend is gaining popularity on platforms like Tiktok, there are quite a few celebrities who have been vocal about this choice for years namely;

1. Anerlisa Muigai

Keroche Breweries heiress Anerlisa recently surprised her one million followers on Instagram after sharing her celibacy journey.

Muigai shared her journey and the positive impacts she has experienced since deciding to practice celibacy.

 "I have gone seven months without sex and I am still going strong. I feel better, and my perspective on everything has changed," She captioned.

2. Robert Burale

 During an interview a year ago with Kalondu Musyimi, the city pastor disclosed that he had been celibate since 2023 after his marriage ended.

"I have been celibate since my marriage ended in 2013. Na mimi ni Mluhya," he said.

He, however, admitted that sex plays a very important part in marriage.

3. Betty Kyallo

The business lady and a mother of one tried becoming celibate but did not sit well with her.

In a Q and A with her younger sister Gloria Kyallo, she was asked if she ever gets dry spells but Betty went ahead and replied, "Dry spell ya pesa si sana… I have tried to be celibate, it's hard.”

4. Daddy Owen

Singer Daddy Owen sparked controversy after revealing that he has been celibate for two years since his marriage crumbled and it is not a big deal to him.

He claimed that he is so occupied with work and doesn't feel any pressure to fall into temptation.

5. Juliani

The musician narrated that he was celibate and not looking for love before he met the love of his life, ( Lilian Nganga).

"I was celibate at that time I did not want anything to do with women because I was at a very good space" He told Patrick Igunza.

6. Dr. Ofweneke

Dr. Ofweneke revealed that there was a point in his life when his neighbors thought that he was gay revealing that poverty pushed him into practicing celibacy.

He continued saying that he kept off women since he was trying to make ends meet and achieve his dreams.

The comedian disclosed that his neighbors thought he was gay since none of them saw him inviting any women to his house.
