Catherine Beatrice Heiskanen and Mitchell Anyango found dead in a truck

A Kenyan woman who was found dead alongside her daughter relocated to Europe in search of a better life.

This turned tragic after Catherine Beatrice Heiskanen and her daughter Patience Coppins were found dead in a truck seven days after they went missing.

Speaking about the double tragedy, Catherine's mum Roselyn Aketch  shared

“She moved to Finland in 2008, shortly after her husband died. A friend helped her move and searched for a teaching job.”

However, Catherine did not get a teaching job and enrolled in a catering course. She then got a job at a restaurant.

Catherine used her earning to support the education of her daughter and son, who later joined her in Europe.

According to Catherine's mother, she got three children in Finland, but they were taken to a children’s home as she was unwell.”

"My daughter had separated from the father of her three children. She continued to support the children and had even attempted to move them from the children’s home but she was never allowed to,” the mother said.,

The son got a job in the Finnish military while Mitchelle joined her mother in the catering business.

The family was last seen on a Saturday. After they failed to come back home, their family realized something wasn't right and started looking for them.

"The deceased was last seen at 4 pm on Saturday morning selling food in their truck. Apparently, after closing the business, it is suspected that they decided to take a nap in the truck based on the position they were found in, sleeping side by side," detailed a family member.

After their efforts proved futile, they filed a missing person report at the local police station seeking help to locate their kin.

Police who found the bodies say they appeared to be sleeping,  and it was suspected that they inhaled the gas from the stoves they used for cooking.
