A week after the "Fela in Versace" hitmaker, AKA was brutally murdered outside Wish Restaurant on Florida Road in Durban reports are emerging that the rapper had been warned about setting foot in Durban.

The warning apparently came after the untimely death of his late fiancée Anele “Nellie” Tembe.

Anele fell to her death back on April, 11th 2021.

The 22-year-old toppled from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel on Loop street in Cape Town, and most people smelled foul play in her death although reports claimed suicide.

A South African blog had an exclusive interview with an unnamed source who is apparently close to a former business associate of AKA’s and according to the source AKA knew what was in store for him.

“He’d been warned not to set foot in Durban over the girlfriend who allegedly jumped off the balcony in Cape Town. Now recently he was back on the twitter-sphere, showing off,” started off the source.

They went on to add, “I don’t know whether you say it was arrogance, or if he [AKA] was just hard-headed, but he and people around him had been told that he must not set foot in Durban.

You sort of question the wisdom of ignoring these messages.

I mean, even if they were not explicit don't act ignorant because even his business associates here were no longer keen on being associated with him.

You know they were also warned...”

Touching on his visit the publication maintains that the source revealed that AKA had been to Durban before but always kept it low-key unlike this time round.

“This wasn’t the first time [since Anele’s death] that he was in the city, but before he was always low-key about this presence,” the source maintained.

Following the news of the artist being gunned down Anele’s father, who happens to be a prominent businessman in Durban Moses Tembe has issued a statement distancing himself and his family from the assassination.

This is after speculations began flowing online that Tembe had had the artist killed to avenge the death of his daughter.

In response to the rumours, Tembe said, “anyone who truly knows me and our family would not spread such rumours.

We’ve never judged Kiernan. We demonstrated our love for him to the very last day.”

The business tycoon also revealed that he had sent AKA’s parents his condolences and they responded with gratitude. As he went on to publicly announce the desire to visit the mourning family.

“We feel so much pain for you Antonio, Lynn, Kairo and family. Princess and I would like to visit home and convey our condolences in person. Kindly forward the address and most convenient time to meet you and family,”his text read.

He also added that AKA's death was tragic to his family as well because now the case of his daughter's death would go cold.

“We’re so saddened by this sad eventuality as it robs us of the opportunity that we’ve been waiting for so patiently to vindicate our daughter in court or in an inquest,” Tembe finished off.
