• Maureen has been married three years.

• She prefers her marital life to remain private.

Singer Maureen Kunga is advising women who have a fairy-tale attitude towards marriage.

Maureen has been married for close to three years, and in a heart-to-heart conversation with Buzzcentral, Maureen told that she learnt a lot in her marriage.

"I've learnt to trust myself, to trust my opinions, to let go and let God. I used to be a controlling lady in terms of my feelings.

I thought the road was straight in life, allow me to tell you, You will swiftly learn that other people have a list. Life is just a beautiful thing,".

The Elani band member went on to advise;

"First there's no part of life that is a fairy-tale. I think you can romanticize your own life, you put in the work to make sure that your life is as happy as you want it to be.

But don't entrust that happiness, fairy-tale to anyone else because you can't control what other people do, what they think,".

She added, "People sometimes put their happiness in a job for example then covid happens some people put their hope in a family member, in marriage God forbid even that person passes away,".

"I really believe we need to be in the driver's seats create your own happiness, build yourself, find the joy that makes you happy. Build yourself first," she continued.

Musically, Maureen also addressed reports that Elani are no longer together after missing in action for sometime.

"Elani we are very much together. It's like we are married, so there is never an apart. However I think having met each other so young, weve grown up together,so you get to a place where you also say act, or get into other businesses,"

She said some of their projects don't work as a group; "You have to allow someone to fly and to shine"

she added they sat down and had a conversation about their group. "we are still very much alone together. It's not really a time cap, its one of those things that are developing as we go,"

It's an evolving process, and Maureen said she is very open to where life takes her.

She has appeared in her first ever movie A familiar Christmas with Pascal Tokodi. Speaking about this debut, she told Buzzcentral that "Good Kenya nmovies are anytime. It is a story surrounding the Moran family who have not seen each other in 3 years."

The get together becomes quite interesting as each member confesses their dirty secrets. Maureen is divorced and has to explain the scandal.

"Its all the drama of me trying to hide it" She said.

Maureen told her role as a mother in the movie was a nice experience. A challenge however was on screen romance. Laughing about it, Maureen spoke of the difficulty.

"The great thing about shooting in my case the Director and my co star were so helpful, a kiss is a very intimate thing, so he cleared out the set, so your mind can focus on the kiss that's about to happen"
