Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion's case has just started and it is off to a spicy started.
If you're not up to date, Megan sued Tory for allegedly shooting her on the foot back in 2020. The two (who were dating back then) are said to have gotten into a fiery argument while leaving Kylie Jenner's party that was held in the Hollywood Hills on 12 July 2020.
Now the court is finally hearing opening arguments in the case with both sides laying out what happened the night Meg was allegedly shot in the foot by Tory.
Prosecutors kicked things off by claiming that Tory fired 5 shots on the evening of July 12, 2020, striking Megan in both feet.
They are claiming that Tory was mad triggered after Megan criticized his musical skills by sarcastically calling him a "beautiful artist."
According to the prosecution, Tory's text messages after the fact admitting to being too drunk and apologizing profusely are pretty damning evidence.
Doctors pulled three bullet fragments from Megan’s feet, prosecutors said in opening statements, confirming in the court record a detail she has previously disclosed in interviews.
The main question that has been ringing in everyone's mind though is not whether Megan was shot, but who fired the gun.
Prosecutors said Lanez tested positive for gunshot residue, the chemicals released when a gun is fired.
However, they noted that three other people at the scene tested positive for gun residue including Megan’s former friend Kelsey Nicole, who was also in the car that night and had revealed that Lanez physically assaulted her.
The 30-year-old artist, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, faces charges including assault with a semi-automatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
On Dec. 5, prosecutors filed a third charge for discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
If convicted, he could face 22 years in prison. He has pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
