Papa Shirandula actress Joy Kawira left her marriage with Pastor Ephantus Wahome Safari due to alleged domestic violence.

Kawira quit the marriage during the pandemic saying money is not everything in a relationship.

Speaking in a recent interview on Radio Jambo, the popular actress alleged that her husband has not met their children since that time.

"In as much as he would want to see the kids, it must be until some things are clarified," she said.

Ephantus was her first love but they failed to 'connect.'

She said she would not be comfortable giving out her children to their father unless there is supervision.

"He can see them but not alone, I don't feel they will be safe alone with their father, like if there are police he can see them," she stated.

She was in the marriage for six years although she said she would have left early. Her experience during the time has put her off dating ever again.

"The thing that discouraged me is that if someone in the pulpit can do such things, that is what discourages me because guys are actors out there, it's just that they have no awards," she said.

"I'm done and dusted because I tried. I left for 8 months and went back, then after 11 months it got worse you see the children were growing, I had dreams of the perfect life, I had such grand plans for that marriage."

Kawira added that at some point she felt the church contributed to her marriage failing.

"We met in church where he is an ordained Pastor, I couldn't tell anyone in the church. The few people I talked to told me mwanamke ni kuvumilia, and these are pastors, the ones I talked to," she said.

Asked if she is divorced, Kawira said she is not in a hurry although she will not go back.

"Legally we are not divorced and am not in a hurry to do it but it's not like I am going back there, No," she explained.
