Ex-Papa Shirandula actress Joy Karambu alias Kawira has shared she had taken a long hiatus from on her acting career after she became a mum.

Speaking during an interview with Hiram Maina, Kawira says getting premature babies was not easy.

"Motherhood took a toll on me, the transition was too much. When you have a difficult pregnancy and then the babies come early and then they stay in ICU that was too much.

But God was faithful. I am now ready to bounce back. Three years and 8 months ago my kids were hospitalized and Kenyans came through for me. I am a proud mother of twins, may God bless you." Said Kawira

Speaking on her role on Papa Shurandula the mother of two says she misses her role on Papa Shirandula.

"I miss the characters on the show. We sometimes meet but the characters can't come out as they would do while on set.

Before Papa Shirandula I had gotten so many disappointments at Kenya National Theatre. I would audition, they would promise to call but they never did."

On what she misses most about Papa Shirandula, Kawira shared, "Papa was a dad to us. Whenever we had issues we would go to him for advice. He had seen everything. Apart from work he would advise you so that you don't lose your way."

Kawira is currently acting on Vioja Mahakamani.
