Rose Gakuo speaks on going back to TV as NMS contract expires

Former K24 news anchor Rose Gakuo has described her stay at the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) as one for the books.

Ms. Gakuo who served as the head of public relations and stakeholders management at NMS expressed gratitude to everyone who was instrumental in making her job a success. 

“First, here is to you, you truly are the best 😘 I enjoy every part of my work interacting with you, always a pleasure,” Rose Gakuo shared.

She went on to divulge that she has not joined any media house as her contract with NMS comes to an end.

However, she promised to carry on her newfound love as a Communication strategist.

 “And to the Questions in the dm, no I have not joined a media house but serving on a platform that for the last few years proven my newfound and true love as a Communication strategist and advisor," she explained. 

 Adding that; “These are among the most fulfilling opportunities of our purpose that standing upon the shoulders of giants you see further, learns that the ear of the leader must ring with the voices of the people,”.

The former TV girl joined NMS in November 2021 and she was spotted at several public functions with NMS officials and President Uhuru Kenyatta while inspecting public projects.

Leading external PR strategies and plans that advance important objectives, the NMS's reputation, and its image was part of Ms. Gakuo's job description. She serves as the NMS's representative and media contact.

In June 2020, Gakuo was among journalists who were let go by Mediamax-owned station K24. The station laid off a sizable portion of its staff to save costs.

Gakuo participated in the 2015 season two finale of KTN's "The Presenter" competition after completing her education.

She later landed a job as a reporter and presenter at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC). She departed KBC for k24 in 2019.

NMS to handover Projects and Functions to Governor Sakaja

On August 26, NMS Director General Mohamed Badi said that they are ready to hand over all its projects, functions and powers back to Nairobi County under Governor Johnson Sakaja.

“As we wind up as NMS, I would like to personally and on behalf of NMS, pledge our support to the governor, we will always be available to work with you to make Nairobi great again.

“Any extra tasks that we have taken onboard, which are ongoing projects, I will be more than happy to hand over. We will start the process of handing over from next week,” Badi said.
