Tyler Mbaya known for his role as Baha on Machachari has opened up about growing up as a celebrity. Speaking during an interview with Mungai Eve, he shared;

"Growing up as a star is bittersweet. The fun side is you get so much appreciation from older people. Guys my age would be asked to look up to me as I was doing something productive. It was easier for me to interact with older people."

Baha says the bad side was being expected to live to a certain standard.

"The bitter side is people who put so many expectations on you. People expect you to live a holy life, you can't do some things."

Adding;

"Growing up I was so afraid of failure to avoid being shunned. That made me live in so much fear.  As a celebrity star you have to be a role model by virtue, but I learned I would only learn by failing."

Baha says the loss of his parents made him toughen up.

"My parents died when I was young. In 2017 is when I started seeing life for what it is. People who put standards on you as a kid ruin your life without realizing it.

I never lived a normal life, I was busy cramming lines. It takes dedication to cram lines, I used to shoot on weekends."

In a past interview fellow Machachari actor Govi had also talked about growing up famous. He said if his mum was not his manager he would not be where he is.

Speaking during an interview with Presenter Ali, the actor shared,

"Working with my mum has been a good thing, If it were not for her maybe pride would have gotten into my head.

She advises me on what to do and what not to do. Sometimes I get jobs that I might have taken just because I love acting. But she insists if they are not paying me a certain amount I should not take it as it will lower my value."

Govi says it has not been easy getting rid of the character Govi as people want to constantly connect him to it.

He is currently involved in a new project and hopes people can realize he is much more talented than they think.

"It's not been easy getting off the character Govi as I started in 2008-2019. In 2008 I was still young and it became hard to differentiate between Govi and Malik, It gave me trouble trying to trace myself.

I am trying to do different things so people can know me as Malik. Playing Govi was easy because I had lived that life. Govi shaped me and am forever grateful for that."
