Vioja Mahakamani actor Gibson Gathu, who acts as a prosecutor in the drama series is appealing for financial help from Kenyans to get a Kidney transplant.
An appeal seen by Mpasho shows that the prosecutor is set to undergo a Kidney transplant at Mediheal Hospital in Eldoret.
"Gib has been managing Diabetes for 20+ years now; but some time in November 2020 his kidneys failed hence he has been going for dialysis twice a week. This has drained his family financially.
The good news is that he has a donor and the purpose of this is to help him raise medical funds estimated to be between 5-6 million for a kidney transplant scheduled for July 2022 at the Mediheal Hospital, Eldoret. The said amount is inclusive of post-surgery treatment for the recipient," reads the appeal.
The fundraising for the Vioja Mahakamani actor is scheduled for 11th June 2022 at the City Hall, Nairobi from 2 p.m.
Well-wishers and fans have been advised to attend the fundraiser, or send their contributions to Paybill No: 247247 Account No: 777626 Account Name: Gibson Gathu Mbugua.
The appeal comes years after another legendary actor, Leornard Mambo Mbotela made a similar appeal.
In 2020, the 'Ungwana' actor appealed to Kenyans to help him clear a Sh 1.1 million medical bill.
The actor's medical bill had risen after he was admitted to the Nairobi South Hospital, where he had been admitted for days.
Luckily, President Uhuru Kenyatta heard the appeal of the actor and decided to pay Sh 1 Million.
The remaining amount was offset by the money that Kenyan well-wishers had contributed in a paybill account provided by the family.
